Apple Mail

Accounts that have multi-factor authentication enabled will need to create an app password before adding Office 365 to the Mail app.

The Mail app requires Office 365 to be setup as an IMAP or POP3 account.

IMAP is the more modern and preferred protocol.

  • IMAP
    • Server: outlook.office365.com
    • Port: 993
    • Encryption: SSL/TLS
  • POP3
    • Server: outlook.office365.com
    • Port: 995
    • Encryption: SSL/TLS
  • SMTP
    • Server: smtp.office365.com
    • Port: 587
    • Encryption: STARTTLS

With the Mail app open, click Mail > Add Account

Choose “Other Mail Account”, then click Continue

O365 Account Type
Enter your name, email address, and password.

An app password may be required. Click here for instructions on creating app passwords.
Add Account Credentials

Choose either IMAP or POP3 and enter the corresponding settings.

* Incoming server should be set to either the IMAP or POP3 settings.  Outgoing server should be set to the SMTP settings.

Click Sign In, then complete the remaining preference prompt.
